NH HOUSE DELIBERATES SHARED PARENTING IN SPECIAL CHILD & FAMILY LAW SUBCOMMITTEE
The house subcommittee reviewing New Hampshire ’s shared (comparable) parenting bill will soon make a decision about supporting this vital change in our state’s Parental Rights and Responsibilities Act. This legislation passed the house unanimously in 2005, in large part due to a major showing of public support. If this bill is to move forward this time, key legislators need to hear from you!
A web page promoting this bill (HB139) is now available and provides a number of ways you can quickly and easily make your views known to state representatives. It includes an online petition you can sign in less than 30 seconds, which will automatically generate emails to the key house subcommittee members. Simply click on the link to the page, click on “Support the Bill” and enter your information. It also includes contact information for key legislators, making it easy for you to contact them by email (individually or as a group) and by phone. The benefit of direct communication exceeds that of signing the petition.
As you all know, children do best with high levels of involvement from both parents. According to David L. Levy, co-founder of the highly respected Children’s Rights Council, “All the research shows that father absence is the biggest domestic relations issue in this country.”
If House Bill 139 is made law, it will require that the court consider comparable parenting arrangements, and when issuing orders denying such arrangements (or the arrangements agreed upon by the parents), it will require the court to establish in a written order the factual basis for denying the kind of parental involvement that has been clearly shown to benefit children greatly.
PLEASE take a moment to sign the online petition here, and to forward this email to as many of your friends, family and associates as possible.

NH STATE LEGISLATURE HEARS PUBLIC GRIEVANCES!
This is BIG folks. For the first time in our lifetimes and thanks to a few dedicated State Representatives, the legislature is hearing public grievances (per the constitution). This is your opportunity to redress your grievance against the state for wrongdoing (i.e. andling your divorce)!
We are collecting, categorizing and sorting grievances. PLEASE send your BRIEF (one small paragraph max)but specific grievance to our Yahoo Group e-mail list. The next one to be heard will be in September 2009. Let’s roll!
THE LONG AWAITED REPORT ON THE ECONOMIC REVIEW OF THE NH CHILD SUPPORT GUIDELINES BY DHHS & UNH IS DUE BY 4/1/09!
Unfortunately we expect foul play and a whitewashing of the well written 2004 report from the House Commission to Study Child Support & Child Custody Related Issues. Get active, involved and stay tuned. There will be activism work to be done here and it may include supporting our Federal Complaint against NH and our Request for Sanctions.
